Brad Brooks
Brad Brooks is an Assistant Band Director at Hays Middle School. His responsibilities include teaching beginner brass classes, directing the Concert Band, and assisting with beginner percussion, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band.
Prior to his move to Prosper ISD, Mr. Brooks spent three years as an Assistant Band Director at Carroll Middle School, Durham Intermediate, and Eubanks Intermediate where he taught beginner brass classes and the Concert Band. Under his direction, the Concert Band received consistent Superior Ratings at both UIL and the North Texas Festival of Distinction.
Mr. Brooks graduated from Lewisville High School in Lewisville ISD. During his time at Lewisville HS, the marching band received consistent Superior Ratings at the UIL Marching Competition and were Area Qualifiers. The Concert Bands received consistent Superior Ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading.
Mr. Brooks went on to study Music Education at Texas Woman’s University. During his time at TWU, he was a member of the TWU Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Carter Biggers. Mr. Brooks was a student of Dr. Cory Rom and was a member of the Trombone Choir and Jazz Band. During his time at TWU, the Wind Symphony went on to perform at the Collegiate Band Directors National Association and Trombone Choir to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association. His time at TWU was concluded by student teaching at R.L. Turner High School and DeWitt Perry Middle School in CFB ISD.
Mr. Brooks joined the Army in December of 2015. In his time of being in the Army, he has held the job of Drill Sergeant, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, and is now an Army Bandsman with the 395th Army Band.
Outside of teaching and the Army, Mr. Brooks also performs in the Dallas Brass Band. The Dallas Brass Band is a British style brass band that performs in the Championship Section which is the top section for Brass Bands in North America. In 2025, The Dallas Brass Band was awarded 3rd place at the North American Brass Band Association Championships which placed them as the 3rd best brass band in North America. In 2025, the DBB started their Youth Brass Band Initiative. Mr. Brooks was selected as the conductor of the Middle School Band for the Dallas Youth Brass Band. The Youth Band Program works to provide students grades 7-12 music opportunities through Clinic and Concerts through out the year and a Summer Institute.
His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and North American Brass Band Association. Mr. Brooks likes to spend his free time barbecuing, reading, playing basketball, and watching sports.
